Top ten most downloaded apps in India

Facebook was dethroned by TikTok, but it still managed 160 million downloads in India this year. As compared to last year, its downloads fell by 11%.

Likee, owned by BIGO, a Singapore-based company, is a short video platform that allows its users to use special filters and stickers. It jumped 19 places and was downloaded over 140 million times.

WhatsApp retained its fourth place with downloads of over 134 million. Despite this, its downloads fell by almost 3%.

Despite Facebook forcing users to download Facebook Messenger on smartphones, downloads fell by almost 15%. It dropped from second place in 2018 to fifth in 2019.

In a list dominated by social networks, UC Browser continues to figure in the top ten list. It clocked in over 117 million downloads, though its downloads too fell by 23%.

Shareit is a file sharing app that has been around for a few years now. It recorded over 108 million downloads in India in 2019, but overall it fell by almost 2% this year.

Google Pay (Tez) is a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) app by Google. Users can make UPI payments, do recharges, pay bills and more using the app. It crossed the 100 million downloads this year, registering a growth of almost 50%.
