The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is developed by an American Company Vertol and Boeing Rotorcraft Systems. It is currently operational in more than 19 countries including UK, Japan, UAE, and South Korea.
It consist of a full integrated digital cockpit management system, a Common Aviation Architecture and advanced cargo-handling capabilities.

The Chinook has a maximum capacity to carry 11 tonnes and 45 troops. Additionally it has underslung capacity to load 10 tonnes.

Besides this, they can be used for medical evacuation, disaster relief, and recovery operations. Additionally, the helicopters can also lift the M-777 ultra howitzers -- a towed 155 mm artillery piece

The Indian Air Force (IAF) received its first CH-47F (I) Chinook on February 10 at the Mundra port in Gujarat.The entire fleet of 15 Chinook helicopters is expected to arrive by March 2020.
