- India’s contingent for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics is the country’s largest ever with 228 participants — including athletes, coaches, officials and other support staff.
- One of the highly anticipated events is Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina playing in the tennis women’s doubles.
- A keen eye will also be on the badminton matches with four Indian shuttlers in the mix.
So far India has one bronze medal in men’s tennis from 1996, one bronze medal in women’s single’s badminton in 2012, and silver in the same category from 2016. As the games kick off on July 23, the stands may be empty, but fans at home will be glued to their screens in hopes of another medal.
