Sketchy rumor claims Apple's next iPhone will be called the 'iPhone 6SE'
Tech2 min read

A new rumor from German Apple blog Apfelpage.de discovered by AppleInsider claims that Apple will name its next iPhone the "iPhone 6SE."

The rumor is sketchy, as it's based on a report claiming that the packaging of the supposed iPhone 6SE has already been produced. However, there's no photo or other visual proof to back it up.

While the rumor has not been corroborated by any other source, it's also the first and only claim we've seen so far that hints at what Apple's next iPhone will be called.

Isn't it going to be called the iPhone 7?

Well, there have been several rumors that Apple's next iPhone wouldn't be called the "iPhone 7."

On top of that, other rumors emerged claiming that Apple is switching up its iPhone release cycle from two years to three years. According to those rumors, Apple's next iPhone will be part of the iPhone 6 generation rather than a brand new generation with a fresh design and a new generational name, like iPhone 7.

Plus, if the rumors surrounding the next iPhone's design are true, it seems like the iPhone 6"SE" or 7, or whatever it'll be called, will look nearly identical to the iPhone 6 generation, which reinforces rumors that Apple is turning over to a three-year release cycle rather than the traditional two-year model.

Some of these rumors are more reliable than others, but none of them are 100% fact. Like everyone else, we'll have to wait until Apple's iPhone event in September to see the next iPhone.
