Whenever there is a big ticket sequel releasing, there are plenty of expectations from the movie to be a big money spinner. The same is true for the forthcoming release Singham Returns, which is a sequel to Singham which was released in 2011.

Just like the predecessor, it star Ajay Devgan and is directed by Rohit Shetty. Apart from this, the Singham Returns also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan. The trio had earlier worked in Golmaal 3. The movie is being produced by Reliance Entertainment.

Singham was released on July 22, 2011, and received heart warming worldwide. In terms of numbers, the movie was made in a budget of Rs 20 crores and it went on to collect Rs 140 crores. Given that Singham Returns is releasing on a national holiday – August 15 – it is expected that this movie will also create some magic on the box office.

As per Ormax Research, Singham Returns “aided by a holiday release, will become the 2nd Rs 20 crore+ Bollywood movie of 2014”. The first movie to get to this mark is Salman Khan starrer Kick. Film trade analyst , Taran Adarsh, too, is expecting the same. He shares, “I think Singham Returns will get a stupendous response on the box office”. However, he refused to give any figures saying that it is too early to start talking about numbers.

In addition, there are also people who think that this sequel will not be able to create the same magic as Singham. Talking on conditions of anonymity, one of the leading distributors of India shared, “ I think Singham would manage Rs 50 crore over the weekend and a lifetime collections of around Rs 140 crore, which for a movie of this nature in today’s time is far too little.

Well guess we will have to wait till tomorrow to see if people step out of their houses to watch Singham Returns in cinemas or not, and whether it manages a Rs 20 crore opening on Friday?
