Soreness is a natural function of the body that plagues all athletes. It usually stays around for a day or two after a hard workout, but for American gymnast Simone Biles, succumbing to it is not an option, which is why she's using the Normatec Pulse Recovery System.

To see the large contraption on her legs is eye-opening, as seen on a recent Snapchat post.

But wait...what are those?

I know you're thinking that they look like overpriced snow pants, but it's actually a really cool contraption that effectively makes soreness a thing of the past.

Here's how it works: in short, the leg sleeves work to move fluids out of the legs. That leads to better blood flow and speedier recovery.

There's a lot of complicated, science-y language, but it boils down to this: for $1,500, you can wear a big bulky thing that will essentially cure you of soreness (or at least get rid of it much faster than the body will naturally do). Simply put, these are the lengths to which Team USA will go to win.
