Pope is taking over the role from Brian Regan, who will transition out of the role on November 6.
Among his duties will be the management of all financial activities, including strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, customer insights and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, accounting, and legal.
"Mike is a Silicon Valley veteran who has a successful track record of profitably, growing public and private companies as both a chief financial officer and chief operating officer," said Jeffrey Housenbold, president and CEO of Shutterfly Inc.
"His leadership, manufacturing and operational experience will be an asset to the Shutterfly Inc. team as we continue to scale beyond a billion dollars in revenue and deliver on our Shutterfly 3.0 vision."
Pope joins Shutterfly from Clean Power Finance, where he served as chief financial officer. He previously held the positions of COO and CFO at MarketTools, vice president at BearingPoint, president and chief operating officer at Network General, president and chief executive officer at DigitalThink, and CFO and chairman of the audit committee at Dionex.
Other finance moves
Phillips 66 announced Kevin Mitchell as its next CFO. He will replace Greg Maxwell, who currently serves as CFO and executive vice president of finance. He will take over the role on January 1.
Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., a shipbuilder based in Newport News, Virginia, named Christopher Kastner as its next finance chief. He will take over the role from Barbara Niland, who will retire in March. Kastner currently serves as general manager of corporate development for the company. He was previously the CFO of the company's Ingalls Shipbuilding division.
Healthcare products marketer Prestige Brands Holdings named David Marberger as its next CFO. He will take over the position from Ron Lombardi, who accepted the president and CEO roles in June. Marberger was CFO at Godiva Chocolatier before accepting this new role.
William Carter announced plans to retire from his CFO role at Hexion at the end of the year. George Knight, treasurer and senior vice president of finance, will take over for him on January 1.
MoneyGram International Inc., a Dallas-based money-transfer and payment-services company, named Lawrence Angelilli at its next finance chief. He will take over the role at the beginning of 2016. Angelilli is currently treasurer, a role he has held since joining the company in 2011. In another finance move, MoneyGram appointed John Stoneham controller and principal accounting officer, effective immediately.
Rogers Corp. CFO and vice president of finance David Mathieson plans to retire at the end of the year. The company has not yet announced a replacement.
CFO Kevin Paprzycki has been promoted to CEO at Westmoreland Coal. He will take over his new role on January 1. Paprzycki joined the company as its controller and principal accounting officer in 2006. He was named as the company's CFO in 2008.
