The BSE Sensex rose by 122.45 points (0.44%) to reach 28,010.35. According to a PTI report, “all the sectoral indices, led by capital goods, metal and auto, were trading in positive zone with gains up to 1.18.”
Similarly, NSE Nifty rose by 22.00 points (0.26%) and reached 8,417.45. According to market analysts, inflow of capital, positive manufacturing output data for December and hopes of more economic reforms helped boost trading sentiments.
Companies which gained the most were: L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, National Thermal Power Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Reliance Industries Limited, Sesa Sterlite, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, BHEL, Cipla, Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco, Hind Unilever, TCS, Wipro, Tata Power and Tata Steel.
In the Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei went down by 0.72% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined by 0.66%.
