Astronaut, Samantha Cristoforetti shared some mesmerizing photos of Monday’s lunar eclipse from the International Space Station. Cristoforetti used her Twitter handle to share the first images of the ‘Blood Moon’. The image shows a partially visible red moon that looked amazing.
Further, the astronaut also tweeted, “a partially eclipsed moon playing hide-and-seek with our solar panel.”

On Monday, some parts of the world- America and Africa witnessed the best view of moon during this celestial event.

European Space Agency astronaut, Samantha Cristoforetti docked the space station on April 26. This is her second flight to the space station that includes four travel companions, Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines, and Jessica Watkins. Astronauts will spend their time carrying out multiple scientific experiments in microgravity conditions including spacewalks.

Crewmembers will also watch out for the arrival of Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft on May 19.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, earth, and sun align in one direction, with the moon passing through the shadow cast by the earth. The first lunar eclipse of 2022 was not visible in India, it was seen in different parts of the world including East Pacific, Africa, Europe, Antarctica, South and North Amera.

During the eclipse, the moon was visible in scarlet colour. It was emitting a reddish light which is why it is called ‘Blood Moon’.

Meanwhile, the next lunar eclipse is said to take place on November 7 and 8. So far, it is said to be visible from North America, Australia and Southeast Asia.
