Solar eclipse date, time and everything you need to know
Science2 min read
Planets and satellites keep traversing one another while moving in their orbits. Eclipses happen when a celestial body obscures the sight of another in the sky. The two popular types of eclipses that we can see from the earth are solar and lunar eclipses. Eclipses of the sun and moon present some rare views of these spatial objects from the earth and are therefore events of great interest for sky watchers.

Two lunar and two solar eclipses were slated for 2022. The second - and last - solar eclipse of the year will occur on 25 October 2022. This will be a partial solar eclipse slightly differing in magnitude from its predecessor. Here is the date, time and everything you need to know about the solar eclipse the world is eagerly waiting to see.

Date and time of the last solar eclipse of 2022

Among the two partial solar eclipses of 2022, the first occurred on April 30. The second and the last solar eclipse of the year will be visible from most parts of Europe, Northeast Africa and Western Asia. Here is a list of the eclipse timings in different parts of the world.

In Reykjavik, Iceland, the solar eclipse will start at 8:58 a.m., reach its peak at 9:46 a.m. and will end at 10:35 a.m. In this region, only 19% of the sun will be seen eclipsed during the event.

In London, United Kingdom, the solar eclipse will start at 10:08 a.m., attain its peak at 10:59 a.m., and end at 11:51 a.m. During the peak of the eclipse, only about 15% of the sun will be covered when viewed from this region.

In Cairo, Egypt, the solar eclipse will start at 12 p.m. The peak of the eclipse will happen at 1:09 p.m. and end at 2:16 p.m. During the maximum phase of the eclipse, around 26% of the sun will be obscured from vision.

In Moscow, Russia, the last solar eclipse of 2022 will start at 12:24 p.m., reaching its peak at around 1:38 p.m. The eclipse will end at 2:51 p.m. Viewed from this region, a maximum of 63% of the sun will be obscured from sight during the peak of the eclipse.

In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the solar eclipse will start at 2:41 p.m., reach the peak at 3:51 p.m. and end at 4:54 p.m. The maximum eclipse will hide not more than 39% of the sun when viewed from this region.

In Delhi, the capital of India, the solar eclipse will start at 04:29 p.m. on October 25. The peak time of the eclipse will be observed at 05:30 pm and the eclipse can be seen only till 5:42 pm as the sun will set in India at this time.
