Though it's been a challenging year for cannabis companies - to say the least - savvy investors still see lots of opportunity on the horizon.
On the public side, cannabis companies saw marquee deals fall through or get repriced, and indexes that track cannabis stocks have lost over 50% of their value since the beginning of the year.
This correction is a necessary one, according to investors Business Insider spoke with. And it'll provide opportunities for investors down the line - whether that means scooping up distressed assets, financing new technology, or looking at growth-stage deals for companies that need capital.
"What we've been through is really a healthy market correction to build a new industry," said Altitude Investment Management Partner Jon Trauben.
