How to track the spread of Coronavirus across the world

The deadly Coronavirus has been spreading across the world, killing over 100 people. The virus named 2019-nCoV began in the Chinese city of Wuhan and was identified by the Chinese authorities in December, 2019.

The The Wuhan Coronavirus has infected over 4,400 people across 18 countries, including China, Thailand, US, Australia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. So far, 107 deaths have been reported due to the virus and only 63 have recovered it.

What is the Wuhan Coronavirus?

The Wuhan Coronavirus is named after the Chinese city of Wuhan, where it is believed to have originated. The first case was reported in December and likely came from an animal host which has not been identified yet.

Coronavirus belongs to a family of viruses that cause various illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as MERS and SARS. The Wuhan Coronavirus, named 2019-nCoV is a new strain of the virus that had not been previously identified in humans.

The symptoms of the Coronavirus include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Feeling tired
How to track the spread of Coronavirus?

The Center for Systems Science and Engineering has developed an online dashboard that uses the data from the World Health Organisation and the centres for disease control in China, US and Europe.

You can visit the dashboard to view the total confirmed cases, confirmed cases by region, fatalities, recoveries and a map that shows the location of each case.
