These are the top-selling anti-diabetes drugs in India

Pharmaceutical giants across the world have witnessed higher sales in drugs related to respiratory, anti-diabetic, cardiac therapies due to coronavirus as compared to other drugs. This is because people with any comorbidities like diabetes and acute respiratory syndrome are at higher risk to COVID-19.

An Anand Rathi research analysis shows that chronic therapies continue to lead growth in the pharma industry. “In June, cardio grew 14% to `16bn (8% in Q1 FY21) and is now inching closer to becoming the largest therapy in India (MAT sales of `187bn vs. `189bn for anti-infectives). Other chronic therapies like diabetes grew 9%, and vitamin sales were up 6%,” the research noted.
