Mark Wahlberg has his own personal fridge to eat Thanksgiving stuffing for an entire week
- Mark Wahlberg has a cleaner, simpler diet these days to protect his metabolism.
- He drops his nutrition goals on Thanksgiving to eat stuffing for "at least a week."
Mark Wahlberg is famously good at eating.
When he dropped his daily routine on Instagram in 2018, it went viral. (Eight meals, including three turkey burgers, a half chicken, eggs, and oats before 8 am!)
These days, he's dialed it down to three meals a day with the occasional fast to meet his metabolism where it's at as he ages, he told Business Insider in September. He has "a bigger meal at breakfast, a little small lunch and then a smaller dinner, like a piece of fish."
But Wahlberg's meticulous approach goes out the window on a holiday.
On Thanksgiving, stuffing is his favorite. He loves it so much that, after the family meal with his wife and four kids, Wahlberg stockpiles whatever stuffing is left in his own personal fridge.
"We make more than enough of it, and I hoard it myself," Wahlberg said. "I've got my own refrigerator, and I'll eat leftovers for at least a week."
Stuffing is one of the higher-carb dishes on the table, with 30 g of carbohydrates and 6 g of protein per 100 g serving. There are ways to make stuffing healthier, by adding fiber and reducing the sodium content. But Wahlberg isn't interested in that.
I asked if he engages in reverse-dieting or bulking — techniques bodybuilders use to bulk up, which are convenient for holiday indulgences. He shook his head.
"It just depends on what I'm doing work wise. If I've got to put on weight, lose weight, be in shape, out of shape, whatever I've got to do to hopefully embody the character that I'm supposed to be playing in my primary business, I do that. And if I'm not working, I prefer to just be eating right and exercising."
But he'll never scrimp on Thanksgiving or Christmas.
"Oh no, no, no," he said, at the idea of dieting on the big day. "We do the whole thing."
