Choose arabica beans or robusta beans

Arabica and robusta are two of the most consumed and popular types of coffee. Robusta has higher caffeine content than arabica coffee, but is rich in antioxidants. One can choose any of the two according to their body needs.

Replace steamed milk with skimmed milk

Steamed milk contains 120 calories and 7 grams of fat, whereas skimmed milk contains 70 calories and almost no fat. Swapping steam milk with skim milk will definitely reduce your calorie intake.

Add cinnamon to your coffee

Several studies have shown that cinnamon can lower blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides in diabetics. Adding a pinch of the spice can add a little flavour to your coffee and make it a healthy choice.

Avoid artificial creamers

Artificial creamers contain questionable ingredients. However, no study shows any serious side-effects from these, but choosing full-fat milk can add extra nutrients to your coffee and is always considered a better choice.

Brew your coffee with filter paper

Brewing your coffee with a filter paper can effectively lower the amount of Cafestol. Cafestol is a molecule in coffee which reduces the body’s ability to regulate cholesterol level. A normal brewed coffee contains high levels of cafestol, which can lead to higher levels of cholesterol.

Add cocoa powder to your coffee

Cocoa is loaded with antioxidants and associated with all sorts of health benefits, including a reduced risk of heart disease. Cafe mocha is one of the popular choices of coffee in which cocoa is added.

Can also switch to soy or almond milk

If you want to lose weight then swapping your dairy milk with soy or almond milk can be a better option. Both milk are comparatively lower in calories than dairy milk. Soy milk is as rich in protein as dairy milk, whereas almond milk is rich in calcium and vitamin E.

Avoid overloading it with sugar

Putting too much sugar in your coffee can be harmful for your health as it could lead to obesity and diabetes. One can switch to natural sweeteners like Stevia, which is said to be a plant-based sweetener. Stevia is much sweeter than normal sugar, however, much lower in calories.
