BBMP’s newest contest can earn you up to Rs 1 lakh for uploading 'Dengue Warrior' reels on social media!
In an innovative bid to combat the rising dengue cases in Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a ‘Dengue Warriorreels contest. This initiative aims to spread awareness and engage the community in dengue prevention efforts. To incentivise participation, BBMP has announced attractive cash rewards for the top ten contestants.

The top five videos will each receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while contestants securing 6th to 10th place will get Rs 10,000 each. Additionally, there is a bumper prize of Rs 1 lakh for the educational institution with the maximum number of entries. The class teacher who motivates the most students to create awareness reels will receive Rs 35,000.
BBMP officials revealed that over 115 students have already participated, earning the title of ‘Dengue Warriors.’

How to participate

Students can create a short video showcasing the efforts taken at their homes to prevent dengue and how they are raising awareness among their neighbors. As per reports, participants should upload these clips on social media, tagging BBMP’s official Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts @BBMPSplHealth.
They must also upload the video on Google Drive via a link or QR code available on BBMP’s social media pages (QR code is not working at the time of publishing of this article). Entries should include the participant's name, contact number, residential area, and ward, while students should additionally provide their class and school details.
Bengaluru’s ongoing struggle with a severe dengue outbreak is no secret. As of early July 2024, the city reported nearly 2,000 cases, the highest in Karnataka. This alarming rise has put the BBMP on high alert, with health workers intensifying surveys, fumigation, and awareness campaigns across the city. Statewide, Karnataka has recorded over 7,000 dengue instances this year, with Bengaluru accounting for 1,908 cases.
