Samsung Says The Galaxy S4 Is Delayed Due To 'Overwhelming Demand'
REUTERS/Adrees Latif Samsung says its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, is experiencing delays "due to overwhelming global demand."
Here's the full statement Samsung sent us:
Due to overwhelming global demand of Galaxy S4, the initial supply may be limited. We expect to fulfill inventory to meet demands in the coming weeks.
The wording of the statement is a bit odd since the Galaxy S4 hasn't even launched yet, although it's possible Samsung is referring to demand from carrier and retail partners. Samsung declined to comment further.
Earlier today, Sprint blamed the delay on supply problems from Samsung. Sprint will start taking online orders for the Galaxy S4 on April 27, but it's unclear when the phones will be available in retail stores.
T-Mobile also had to delay its Galaxy S4 launch, and will only accept online orders for the phone beginning April 29. It was originally supposed to begin selling the phones today.
The first wave of Galaxy S4 reviews came out last night, and most of them were lukewarm. Many critics didn't like the phone's plastic construction or the plethora of gimmicky software features that didn't always work well.
Those drawbacks aside, it's still a pretty good phone. You can read our full review of the Galaxy S4 here.
