Clash of the titans in India’s mobile phone market; Samsung to spend huge on S7 series to beat Apple
If someone asks you the top two brands of mobile phones in India, it’s safe to name Samsung and Apple, and given that these two lead the world's second largest smartphone market, it’s no guess that they have intense competition between themselves.
This competition is all set to further intensify, because reports suggest that Samsung is planning to spend a record sum on promoting its new flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge mobile phones. Needless to say, Apple is busy drawing up a counter-strategy.

Samsung may reportedly invest about Rs 100 crore on marketing its latest smartphones, which will see the light of the day in India around March 8. The prices of these handsets are kept close to Apple's iPhone 6s models.

As a result, Apple is considering additional consumer promotion and reducing the prices of some of its models. This has happened despite the reports that Apple was thinking of launching stores in India and not offering any discounts on products till then. For this, it has lined up a counter-marketing budget of Rs 30-40 crore, some executives told ET.
Not only this, the mounting popularity of Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 has also put Apple in an introspective mood, leading to its need to think of a way to handle the competition from Samsung.
