British grocery store Sainsbury's is facing backlash on Twitter after it accidentally posted a sign meant only for staff in its storefront window.

The sign challenged staff to encourage costumers to spend 50 pence more "during each shopping trip between now and year-end."

The poster was first spotted by Twitter user Chris Dodd. It quickly went viral on Twitter.

At first, Dodd refused to reveal the location of the store, even when prompted by a Sainsbury's official.

Here's Dodd's response:

Eventually Dodd gave in and revealed the location of the store, by which time the #50pchallenge was already trending on Twitter.

In an emailed statement, Sainsbury's said: "We often use posters to make store targets fun and achievable for our colleagues. They are intended for colleague areas in the store, but this one was mistakenly put on public display."
