Built and Performance
The Epson
Yes, this projector is 3D ready and you can view 3 dimensional movies and videos on it. Videos look exceptionally good and one does not need to project them on a white wall to get the perfect imagery. You can get a good picture on a coloured wall as well. Though the projector is capable of projecting an image of up to 328-inches, we ran out of wall space after 80 (that is the screen size we tested it at).
We played a couple of Blue-ray movies and this projector left us startled. We got clear, crisp moving pictures that can give some of the best thin tube TV’s a run for its money. HDMI, PC and composite playback is supported and one can get Full HD 1080p video quality. The projector also has sound on it. This is the only place where we found the projector to be on its low. The 2W RMS mono speaker is simply not powerful enough for medium to large rooms. One has to have external speakers to enjoy movies and cable TV.
Verdict
The Epson TW 5200 is not a bad buy at all. Epson does supply with one 3D glass. Users would need to shell out a little extra if hey require more. One does not need to dim the lights to view the projection properly and nor does one need to sit right in the middle to get the perfect view. One can also play videos from various other sources such as a mobile phone via HDMI on this projector.
If you compare it to any other 55-inch or higher 3D TV set, the price of the TW5200 will not pinch. Where most large screen 3D TV’s in the over 55-inch category will cost more than 1.5 lakhs, this projector can be picked up for Rs 95,000. Not bad for 3D cinematic view within the comforts of your home.
