First up, Greektown Gyro. We were already skeptical of this flavor because of the name. When we opened the bag, an odd aroma of meat came out.

The first blast of flavor tastes exactly like gyro meat, which is a bit unsettling. We would describe this flavor as mysteriously meaty, with a hint of sour cream and onion. This is the only chip flavor contender that is kettle cooked — giving this meaty flavor chip a crunchy kick.

Then, Southern Biscuits and Gravy. The first smell of this flavor is reminiscent of rosemary and cracked pepper. We were curious to see how the gravy and biscuit flavor would carry over into a chip.

The rosemary smell did not carry over into the taste of the chip... but the buttery biscuit flavor and peppery gravy certainly did. We were pleasantly surprised by this flavor. It's mellow — with a uniquely accurate, yet simple taste.

First bite, and our reactions were pure confusion. We couldn't figure out what we were tasting until we broke it down. The rye bread flavor is oddly distinctive and we could definitely taste the sauerkraut and corn beef flavor separately and specifically — which is impressive and disturbing.

The Truffle Fries smell strongly of garlic, sour cream and onion. Pretty basic and harmless – a safe bet.

If we didn't know the what the flavor of this chip was beforehand, we would guess that it's sour cream and onion. Although when we broke it down and paid attention to the flavors, we were able to notice the garlic and herb flavors along with the pungent truffle oil. They have a strong flavor and a subtle earthy taste making them just barely different from regular sour cream and onion chips.

If we didn

... Take us to the South, because Southern biscuits and gravy is our winner! Followed by West Coast Truffle Fries, New York Reuben, and Greektown Gyro. The meat flavored chips are too bizarre for us, and the truffle fries, although delicious, are too similar to sour cream and onion. Southern biscuits and gravy was voted the winner of Frito Lay's "Do Us a Flavor" contest. Creator Hailey Green will take home a $1 million grand prize for her flavor invention, and we agree with the winner.
