The list of fresh toppings is impressive and the menu is setup to build your burger in stages. Starting with cheese and then moving onto toppings, sauces, and extra options.

After choosing your burger size which includes 1/3 pound, 1/2 pound, and "lil meathead" options, you move on to the toppings.

Meatheads offers six types of cheeses that range from traditional american and cheddar to swiss, provolone, bleu cheese, and pepper jack. Each cheese slice is generously cut for a maximum flavor profile.

I ordered "the works" and added giardiniera peppers and sautéed mushrooms along with cheddar cheese.

Meatheads also offers a ton of signature sauces including bacon ranch, bbq, bistro, bleu cheese, and others. The sauces are served on the side, allowing for french fry dipping and burger sharing.

You can also add extras such as another patty for $1.50 or applewood smoked bacon and avaocado for $1 each.

I went a little overboard with nine toppings and cheese. I chose the 1/2 pound burger which features two patties.

If you are going to order a lot of toppings I recommend the 1/2 pound burger so the meat still maintains its flavor profile alongside the fresh toppings.

They definitely don't skimp on the toppings, but the amazing burger seasoning and Angus beef still shine through all of the clutter.

Notice the thick slices of carrot that fell out of my burger bun? The company places an emphasis on fresh ingredients that you can actually taste in every bite. The giardiniera is among the best I have tasted, offering a bit of a kick while not overpowering the burger with heat.

The whole potato cut is fried to just the right level of crispyness. Every bite delivers a crunch that you seldom find these days and the salt to french fry ratio is perfect.

I prefer the regular fries but a lot of Meatheads customers go with cajun.

If you can't decide don't worry, they offer cajun seasoning shakers that can be used post order.

A larger order of fries can easily feed a family of three. If you order two meals I would suggest asking for a single large order to share.

Because the company is focused on delivering a burger made your way, they also offer a ton of ketchup and sauce varieties for your fries and burger.

If you want to kick it up a notch you should try the ketchipotle. If you really love spice, I highly recommend the ketchapeño.

There is also Heinz vinegar, hot sauces, and a few other choice toppings for your food.

Just grab a container of your favorite ketchup and bring it to your table to enjoy throughout your entire meal.

Every Meatheads location offers Coca-Cola freestyle machines. You can create hundreds of different flavor profiles for your soda and flavored water. The machine also dispenses water and there are sweet and unsweet iced tea dispensers located at each restaurant.

Admittedly, having only two machines at the Bloomington, IL location did cause an increase in wait time during the lunch rush, but it was worth the extra time.

Meatheads Burgers and Fries has grown from one restaurant in 2007 to 17 locations 8 years later.

With the rapid expansion of fast casual burger joints these days, I would suggest keeping an eye out for many more Meatheads locations in the coming months and years ahead.

My 3-year-old daughter is a huge fan of Meatheads and the lil' meathead is just the right size for her.

She ordered a burger with cheddar cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard, onions and lettuce, and she ate every single bite.

If you are absolutely not in the mood for a burger the fast casual chain offers an excellent whole beef hot dog and fresh chicken that is nearly as mouth-watering as its burgers.

They also offer some excellent shakes and a few vegetarian options.
