Victoria's Secret's fashion show is back, only this time in the form of a full-length feature film.

The lingerie giant announced its "reimagined version" of its fashion show on Tuesday. The movie will be streamed internationally in the fall along with a live fashion event, the company said in a release shared with Insider.

Victoria's Secret has been discussing the return of its fashion show for some time. This iconic event, which first aired in 1995, was canceled four years ago after it came under increasing criticism for its lack of diversity and inclusion.

This came to a head in 2019 when Ed Razek, the brains behind the show and the brand's former marketing chief, described transgender people in an interview with Vogue as "transsexuals," and said transgender models shouldn't feature in the show because it is a "fantasy."

At the time, critics called for Razek's resignation. He later apologized and stepped down some months afterwards.

The brand has been working hard to execute a comeback under a new management team after years of sliding sales and finding itself caught up in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal in the summer of 2019. Les Wexner, who was CEO and founder of its former parent company L Brands, was once considered to be close friends with Epstein.

"This film is the ultimate expression of the Victoria's Secret brand transformation," Raúl Martinez, creative director at Victoria's Secret, said in a statement to the press.

"It will be driven by fashion, glamour, and entertainment with a nod to beloved iconography from the past but in a bold, redefined way," he added.
