  • Fall fashion is all about comfort, style, and luxury this year.
  • Some of the season's biggest status symbols are an $850 suede coat and $168 men's clogs.

Knit beanies, corduroy pants, and cozy cardigans are always fall essentials.

But this year, you can also add a few luxury options to that list.

Men are sporting expensive hoodies, women are carrying convenient totes from Coach, and everyone with long hair is using flashy golden hair ties.

Here's a look at why people love these trendy items and others that are quickly becoming symbols of wealth and status for the autumn season.

One scroll through TikTok will tell you that suede accessories are all the rage this fall. Some videos highlight the best fuzzy handbags, while others focus on suede outerwear.

And in many cases, videos about these garments are racking up thousands of views. Creator Lizzy Hadfield, for example, has gotten more than 804,000 views on a video she posted about the brown suede jacket she's wearing this season.

Some popular suede accessories include the $148 Berkely bag from J.Crew and the $305 Will jacket from Sézane.

Both are sold out, as is the most coveted piece this season: the $850 Alexa Chung for Madewell double-breasted blazer overcoat in "dark roast suede."

Between August and September, many people searched the phrase "pony cuffs" on Google.

The accessories are essentially glorified hair elastics with chunky metallic pieces on one end that add texture, shape, and shine to your hairstyles.

They can also be pricey. For example, those from the New York accessories brand Lelet cost between $58 and $438 each.

A Lelet press representative told Business Insider that pony-cuff sales "have doubled throughout the last year" and that searches for the pieces on its website have majorly increased.

The $295 Brooklyn 28 bag has been everywhere since launching this summer as part of the Coach Fall 2024 collection. The purse, made with natural grain leather, is sold in six neutral colors and has a magnetic snap to keep it closed.

Influencers have raved about the bag's storage capabilities, and celebrities like Bella Hadid have been photographed carrying it around New York City.

Unsurprisingly, a brown version of the bag called Maple and a suede option called Cedar were sold out at the time of writing.

The bag is the ultimate fall status symbol and another win for the Coach brand, which has made an impressive comeback.

As style TikToker Jerry Anthony said in a recent video, men's purses and handbags have skyrocketed in popularity over the past year.

But as he predicted, larger totes and messenger styles seem to be the go-to options for fall.

French brand Berluti, which made a splash at the Paris Olympics, has a $4,550 travel piece that men can carry beneath their arms, while Brahmin's $440 Mason messenger bag has been seen at New York Fashion Week.

The one thing that all popular men's bags seemingly have in common? Material. Leather appears to be the top choice this season.

They're also loving a subtly luxurious hoodie from Lululemon.

If there's one piece men are loving this autumn, it's Lululemon's Steady State pullover hoodies.

The $128 garments are sold in 10 colors and six sizes and are completely plain in design. They have long sleeves, a hood, and a deep front pocket — but no massive logos or prints, a nod to the quiet-luxury look that's been popular since the start of this year.

TikTok fans have paired the hoodies with everything from shorts to expensive jeans, while women have also said they enjoy the garment's simplistic design and fit.

The brand's crewnecks of the same name have also become popular for men this season.

There's nothing cooler than cargo pants.

Baggy cargo pants with massive pockets were everywhere during New York Fashion Week. Even Brad Pitt wore a pair during his stylish appearance on the East Coast.

Google searches for the garments have remained steadily high over the past three months, and videos promoting inexpensive pairs on TikTok Shop have recently gotten thousands of views.

Some of the most popular cargo pants for men are the $168 water-repellent styles from Eighteen East, which often sell out as soon as they're released.

Clogs were everywhere this summer, from New York City to Copenhagen Fashion Week, and they don't seem to be going anywhere for the fall season.

While some inexpensive styles have gone viral on TikTok, designer brands have also gotten in on the trend.

Ralph Lauren sells $168 suede clogs for men, Burberry offers a $570 rubber version, and Hermès is the retailer behind $950 calfskin mules.

Women, on the other hand, are opting for Veronica Beard's $375 shearling shoes.
