Jony Ive, Apple's former design chief, joined forces with Linn to create a $60,000-plus turntable.
The Sondek LP12-50 turntable marks the 50th anniversary of Linn's Sondek LP12.

Jony Ive's design firm LoveFrom collaborated with Linn to redesign the brand's "most iconic product in hi-fi history," per its website.
Ive set up LoveFrom after stepping down as Apple's chief design officer in 2019.Linn
Linn CEO Gilad Tiefenbrun said the pairing came about from a LinkedIn request last year that he initially thought was fake, per a blog post.
The $60,000 turntable comes in two colors: white, and natural wood.Linn

While Ive's creative team focused more on the aesthetic of the turntable, Linn made sound improvements to produce what it says is the "best vinyl playback performance" it's ever achieved.
According to Tiefenbrun, Ive offered LoveFrom's design services if Linn needed help on a project during a 2022 meeting.Linn
Only 250 models are available – and reservations can be made on the Linn website.
The 50th anniversary special edition design took Linn engineers and LoveFrom designers about a year to develop.Linn

The turntable is a more refined take on Linn's iconic turntable, and is Ive's "first hardware project post-Apple," Fast Company reported.
The squared-off elements of the LP12 turntable have been smoothed and rounded in the LP12-50 edition.Linn
