  • Tennessee AG Jonathan Skrmetti said he's looking into the Taylor Swift Eras presale meltdown.
  • On Tuesday, Swift fans complained of long wait times and outages on Ticketmaster.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said Wednesday that he's probing the Taylor Swift Eras presale meltdown amid customer complaints about Ticketmaster.

At a news conference, Skrmetti said he's investigating consumer complaints about the presale and said antitrust violations "could be an issue," per Bloomberg.

He added: "As an industry player, you would think Ticketmaster would be prepared. Because they have a dominant position, they may have thought they didn't need to worry about that. This could be an indicator that there's not enough competition in the market."

Fans complained of long wait times and site outages on Tuesday as they tried to secure tickets to Swift's first tour since 2018. Some sales were postponed after the website crashed under "historically unprecedented demand," Ticketmaster said in a statement.

Skrmetti's office said in a statement Wednesday that he was "concerned" about customer complaints surrounding the ticket sale and would use "every available tool to ensure that no consumer protection laws were violated."

Representatives for Ticketmaster didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Neither Ticketmaster nor Live Nation has been accused of misconduct.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed Ticketmaster over the chaotic pre-sale. In a tweet, she called for the companies to be broken up.

West Coast sales for Swift's tour were postponed from 10 a.m. PT to 3 p.m. PT on Tuesday, and a Capital One presale was rescheduled.
