Target is recalling roughly 5 million candles after reports that they can cause lacerations or burns.

The big box retailer announced the recall last week of some of its Threshold glass jar candles, advising consumers to stop using the candles immediately and return them to a Target store, either in person or via a prepaid return label, for a full refund, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall, which affects about 4.9 million candles, comes after 137 reports of the glass jar breaking or cracking during use. Six injuries have been reported, including "lacerations and severe burns."

The recall includes 5.5-ounce, 14-ounce, and 20-ounce candles in a range of scents, including vanilla bean and amber, whiskey and oak, and coconut sorbet. The candles were sold both in stores and online between August 2019 and March 2023 and cost between $3 and $20 at the time, according to the CPSC.

Customers can find whether their candle was part of the recall by checking the item number printed on the bottom of the jar. The full list of recalled candles is available on Target's website.
