Four Nike recruiters said Tuesday in posts to LinkedIn that they were laid off. Three of them recruited for technology jobs, according to their LinkedIn profiles.

The posts come one week after Nike internally announced the sudden resignation of Ratnakar Lavu, the company's top technology executive.

Layoffs have swept across the tech industry in recent months. More than 100,000 tech workers already lost jobs this year, more than half of last year's total. Tech giants Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon have eliminated more than 50,000 jobs.

Nike did not immediately return an Insider email seeking comment.

The former Nike workers who posted about being laid off either declined comment or did not immediately respond to a LinkedIn message.

Each worked as part of Nike's Talent Acquisition, or recruiting arm, according to their LinkedIn profiles. Their profiles said they helped find job candidates for various parts of the business, including data science, engineering, and analytics.

"It has been an amazing two years working alongside talented individuals, but I plan on using this time to recharge and refresh before diving back into the job search," one of the workers wrote on LinkedIn.

It's unclear how many jobs Nike has eliminated recently. The company employs 79,100, according to its most recent annual report.

A fifth former Nike worker posted on LinkedIn a week ago about recent layoffs on a Nike team that worked on the company's branding.

Nike last had large-scale layoffs in 2020 when it eliminated 700 jobs.
