Costco is now selling packs of 25-count packs of silver Royal Canadian Mint coins for $625.
But some Costco members are disappointed with the way the coins are packed.

Some Costco shoppers buying its new $625 packs of silver coins say that they didn't arrive in sealed tubes as promised, leading to some of them showing up scratched.
The 2024 Canada Maple Leaf silver coins, made by the Royal Canadian Mint, are available in a 25-count pack on Costco's website. They have an image of King Charles III on one side and a maple leaf on the other.CostcoHowever, some Costco members are disappointed with the quality of the coins — specifically the way they're packed.Reviewers have given the coins an average 3.3-star rating on Costco's website, compared to 4.8 stars for the gold bars it sells. Of the 46 reviews for the coins, 11 gave just one star.The reviewers who reported having problems with the packaging said that the tubes weren't sealed when they arrived and that in some cases the coins had spilled out. Multiple reviewers said that the coins were scratched or otherwise damaged as a result."The coins are all scratched and not matching what I paid for (brilliant uncirculated, in a sealed tube)," one reviewer wrote.Costco says that the price of the coins includes insured, signed-for air shipping via UPS. It's unclear how the seals on the tubes became damaged and whether this happened in transit, while being packed, or even before that."Arrived with broken seal and most of the coins scuffed and scattered in the shipping box," one reviewer wrote."One tube had split open and the coins were jostling around loose inside of the box when they arrived," another reviewer wrote. "Some were scratched up."One reviewer said that when they opened their package, "the coins just spilled out of the UPS box."Costco says the coins can't be returned or refunded. They're limited to five cases per membership, all of which must be bought in one order.Business Insider has contacted Costco, the Royal Canadian Mint, and UPS for comment.However, other Costco members said that they had been worried after reading negative reviews, only to find that their coins actually arrived in sealed tubes."After reading all the reviews from other customers, I was worried about the coins being unsealed and scattered in the box," one reviewer wrote. They said their coins arrived "tightly wrapped in plastic and still in the sealed tube."Another reviewer said that they ordered five tubes that arrived "expertly packaged in a bubble-wrap envelope, placed inside a sealed plain white cardboard box, inside another UPS Express cardboard box. No jostling whatsoever." Only one of the tubes was unsealed, which they said was "no big deal."Costco also sells bars of 24-karat gold, which the company's CFO said sell out within "a few hours," and 2024 American Eagle gold coins.
