<p class="ingestion featured-caption">The National Retail Federation has projected that Halloween spending will reach $11.6 billion this year.ShineTerra/Shutterstock</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>From kids to pets, everyone enjoys dressing up for <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/home/best-halloween-decorations">Halloween</a>.</li><li>Spending on costumes could reach nearly $3.8 billion this year, per the National Retail Federation.</li></ul><p>With <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/fall-travel-halloween-jack-o-lanterns-historic-mansion-photos-2024-9">Halloween</a> just around the corner, it's time for some spooky costume inspiration.</p><p>If you're among the 76% of adults who have already bought their <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/im-not-buying-costumes-for-my-kids-this-halloween-2023-10">costumes</a>, according to the <a target="_blank" class href="https://nrf.com/media-center/press-releases/nearly-half-halloween-shoppers-start-purchasing-items-october">National Retail Federation</a>, then a glance at this list will tell you if you've picked one of the most popular.</p><p>But if you haven't had the chance to pick your outfit yet, now is the perfect time to scour closets for old favorites or find new ones. </p><p>After all, it's going to be a big year for those who celebrate. The National Retail Federation reported that about 72% of people plan on participating in Halloween festivities. While this is a 1% dip from last year, it's still a significant increase from pandemic levels when only 58% participated.</p><p>As part of the preparations, the National Retail Federation surveyed 7,945 people about their Halloween shopping plans in early September and ranked the most popular costumes for kids, adults, and pets this year.</p><p>Spider-Man is still the top choice among kids, with 2.6 million children planning on dressing up as the <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ryan-reynolds-deadpool-box-office-success-marvel-superhero-slump-2024-7">superhero</a>. Meanwhile, adults prefer classic witch costumes for themselves and pumpkin costumes for their pets.</p><p>These are the most popular Halloween costumes for kids, adults, and pets in 2024, according to the National Retail Federation.</p>
