The World Cup winner was officially confirmed as an Inter Miami player on Saturday, one month after a deal was said to be close.

That's just in time for the first edition of the Leagues Cup, with Inter Miami set to take on Mexican team Cruz Azul on Friday.

And there's huge hype to see the Argentinian soccer star, who has won a record seven Ballon d'Or trophies — the award given to the best player in the world each year.

CNN reports that tickets for the Cruz Azul match are being listed for $110,000 on Vivid Seats, a ticket-reselling website.

Although CBS reported on Monday afternoon that the highest tickets were listed for $56,901 on the same website.

And when Insider looked at Vivid Seats' prices on Tuesday morning, the most expensive was $28,435 for a front-row seat near the penalty area.

A Vivid Seats spokesperson told Insider that the listed prices "fluctuate based on various factors including demand, seat locations, and even weather" so are "always subject to change."

On StubHub, the highest ticket was listed at $8,280, and on Ticketmaster at $5,000.

Either way, it's clear that Messi's signing has sent ticket prices soaring.

Even before the deal was finalized, the announcement that he was set to join Inter Miami saw prices for the Cruz Azul rocket over 1000%, Insider previously reported. On Vivid Seats, the average price for that match is now $423.

And as Inter Miami became the most-followed US sports team on Instagram outside the NBA, it showed why Messi's clout could be so important for soccer in the US.

According to the Vivid Seats spokesperson, fans are traveling an average of 588 miles to see Messi's expected debut in Florida.
