A Taco Bell restaurant in Newman, California will give a free taco to guests that pay with rolls of coins as the nationwide shortage of coinage continues.

The newly-opened restaurant created the offer after being informed by its bank that there was a limit on coin withdrawals, ABC10 first reported.

This isn't the first time a fast-food restaurant has offered free food in exchange for much-needed hard change. On Monday, a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Lynchburg, Virginia announced it would give a free entree to anyone who came in to exchange a $10 coin roll for a $10 paper bill on Wednesday, July 29 during certain times.

The national coin shortage is putting major pressure on retailers across the country. With stores struggling to supply adequate change to customers who pay in cash, many retailers are asking customers to pay with credit or debit or to use exact change when paying with cash.

The Federal Reserve attributes the coin shortage to the pandemic-related closure of shops, banks, public transportation, and laundromats.
