Most popular Easter candy by state: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs reign supreme, while Peeps fall by the wayside

  • New data from Instacart reveals the most popular candies for the 2022 Easter season across the US.
  • The list is unsurprisingly dominated by chocolate, with jelly beans and marshmallow Peeps also making appearances.

This Easter, most Americans are looking forward to snacking on Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, a new survey found.

Americans in 2022 gravitated heavily toward the peanut butter chocolate treat to celebrate Easter, while some also shopped for jelly beans and the divisive marshmallow candy Peeps.

Grocery delivery app Instacart analyzed 2022 data to see what seasonal goodies saw the biggest jump in popularity on the app in the two weeks leading up to Easter, and recently revealed the top 10 most popular candies overall, along with the most popular candy in each US state.

The 2022 Easter top 10 national treats, according to Instacart:

Instacart also conducted a survey with The Harris Poll of 2,000 Americans, about two-thirds of which said they celebrate Easter. An overwhelming 92% of those who celebrate Easter said they plan to buy candy this year, and over 60% said they plan to buy chocolate eggs or a bunny.

In comparison, just half said they would buy jelly beans, and 42% said they will seek out Peeps.

The company also broke the data down by state, and revealed the most popular Easter treat in all 50 states plus Washington, DC.
