  • McDonald's is trialing the Chicken Big Mac in limited locations across the US.
  • The chicken burger has been a success in branches across the UK.

McDonald's is bringing a chicken version of its signature Big Mac burger to the US, the company confirmed to Insider.

The new item, which swaps the classic Big Mac beef patties for crispy chicken, is launching in Florida later this month.

"We're always looking to give our fans more ways to enjoy the classic menu items they know and love," a McDonald's representative told Insider.

The company confirmed that it was trialing the new burger at Miami-area locations this month for a limited time. It hinted that a national launch was possible if the burger proved popular enough.

"While not everything we test makes it on our US menus, we'll use this time to gather feedback from both customers and restaurant crew as we consider opportunities to offer more delicious options in the future," the McDonald's spokesperson said.

The burger, which was first launched in Australia in 2017, was generally a success with fast-food fans in the UK.

Just 10 days after launching in the UK in early 2022, Mcdonald's had to temporarily remove the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac from UK branches, citing "incredible" public demand.

A company spokesperson told Insider's Sam Tabahriti that the chicken burger was the company's "most popular launch ever."

Insider's Kate Duffy reviewed the $5.50 chicken burger on its debut day in the UK after waiting five years to try it. Despite its popularity, she was disappointed with its taste and "messy" presentation.
