McDonald's is giving away free chicken nuggets to celebrate the launch of its Spicy McNuggets.

On Wednesday, September 16, the fast-food giant is allowing customers to get six extra nuggets for free, with the purchase of six nuggets, as part of McDonald's "Spicesurance" deal. Spicy Chicken McNuggets, as well as new dipping sauce called Mighty Hot Sauce, are launching nationally on the same day.

Customers simply need to order a six-piece Spicy Chicken McNuggets on McDonald's app. Then, they have the option of adding an additional six Spicy Chicken McNuggets or six classic Chicken McNuggets.

In other words, if you were thinking about trying McDonald's spicy nuggets, you have the opportunity to get six for free on Wednesday, with the purchase of six nuggets on the McDonald's app.

The deal is accompanied by nearly 9,000 words in fine print, which are featured in an ad starring actor, comedian, and former NFL player Anthony "Spice" Adams. Some highlights of the text, which parodies an insurance commercial:

  • "Using the widely known Brussels Food Accords, 5 fries is an equivocal amount of compensation for one Chicken McNugget. "
  • "Next visualization. You're a tiger. Neglected by your family, you've found a new home at the circus. It's your first big performance. Your tough tiger childhood has also made you desperate for outside validation"
  • "Spicesurance does NOT cover ballroom dancing lessons."

McDonald's is also giving away free 10 piece Spicy Chicken McNuggets on Uber Eats with orders of at least $20 from September 22 to September 28.

The spicy nuggets are the first time McDonald's has ever rolled out a variation on its classic McNugget. The new menu item comes as chicken chains are seeing a significant sales bump, due to customers ordering fried chicken to-go and via delivery.
