McDonald's brings back Halloween Happy Meal Pails in time for trick-or-treating - but it's not just for candy anymore
  • McDonald's announced the return of the trick-or-treating trio on Monday.
  • The Halloween Pails will be available from Oct. 18 to Oct. 31, or while supplies last.

For the first time in six years, McDonald's is bringing back its Halloween Happy Meal Pail just in time for trick-or-treating - or anything else you can think of.

On Thursday, the fast-food chain announced the comeback of the three pails affectionately known as McBoo, McPunk'n, and McGoblin starting Oct. 18.

Fans of the spooky buckets, which debuted in 1986, expressed their nostalgia for other vintage McDonald's items.

"ok i may not get an adult happy meal BUT I'M GETTING A HALLOWEEN PAIL," one Tweet read.

But although the Halloween pails were introduced originally as a way for children to collect candy while trick-or-treating, TikTokers have made videos showing the many uses of the spooky bucket.

The creative uses included using your pail as a purse, drums, or even a pot for plants.

If you're hoping to get your hands on the seasonal collectible, you have until Oct. 31 to visit a participating location while supplies last. The pail is free with a Happy Meal.

McDonald's also launched a Happy Meal for adults on Monday, and the nostalgic approach was wildly successful among customers.

"We're taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald's experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that's hyper-relevant for our adult fans," McDonald's US head of marketing Tariq Hassan said in a statement.
