Instacart is dominating online grocery in North America.

The grocery startup saw a significant boom during the pandemic, with the total number of sales through its platform, up 300% year-over-year in December 2020, the company said. Throughout the pandemic, the platform has outpaced industry leaders like Walmart Grocery and Target-owned Shipt.

Though Instacart is currently privately owned, the company is widely expected to launch an IPO this year. After a significant fundraising round of $200 million in October, Instacart is currently valued at $17.7 billion.

The company, which generally pays its corporate staff well into the six-figure range, said it currently employs over 2,000 employees and is looking to increase its headcount by 50% across the company over the next six months.
