The sneaker resale world is ruled by teens and college dropouts. But as the multi-billion dollar sneaker industry continues to thrive, law schools are beginning to notice. That's where the niche expertise of sneakerhead lawyers Kenneth Anand and Jared Goldstein comes into the picture.

"We're talking to several schools about going and teaching sneaker law, which is just a new and exciting way to teach some of the old mundane topics that are covered in law school," Anand, a lawyer and co-author of the upcoming book, Sneaker Law, told Business Insider.

The lecture, which has already been given at Harvard Law School's Fashion Law Lab class in January, looks at well-known law topics like intellectual property, trade secrets, and employment law through the lens of the sneaker industry.

"There's many different ways to shape your career in sneakers and up until now, it's been a non-traditional thing," Anand said. "So we're hoping to make it traditional, we're hoping to make it much more mainstream and to teach people what they need to know to excel in that industry."

For Kenneth Anand and Jared Goldstein, leveraging a background in law is part of what made their journey in the sneaker world a little more unusual than most.

"I was into sneakers, hip hop music, fashion and street culture," Anand, who studied law at Brooklyn Law School, told Business Insider. After running his own intellectual property and employment practice for a bit, he was able to blend his passion and career as the general counsel and business development head at Yeezy, Kanye West's apparel line with Adidas, until July of 2019.

Goldstein, who is currently the legal counsel at LiveIntent, a marketing company, was similarly leveraging his sneaker passion and law knowledge by creating digital content for Complex Media related to legal issues when he and Anand got in touch. Goldstein is a Brooklyn Law graduate as well.

Anand and Goldstein are currently working on a book called Sneaker Law that covers legal topics related to the sneaker world. The pair gave an exclusive preview of some of the book's contents during a lecture at Harvard Law School's Fashion Law Lab class in January and shared the presentation they used with Business Insider.

From endorsement deals to trade secrets, here were the basics of Sneaker Law, as taught to the students of Harvard Law School by Anand and Goldstein.
