Former Yeezy employee says Kanye West would scream and throw books across the room, making them fear for their wellbeing
- A former Yeezy worker said Kanye West would scream and throw books across a room, per Rolling Stone.
- The ex-staffer worked for the fashion brand on West's remote ranch in Wyoming, Rolling Stone reported.
A former Yeezy worker told Rolling Stone that Kanye West, also known as Ye, would scream and throw books across a room, making them fear for their wellbeing.
The publication spoke to more than a dozen former Adidas and Yeezy staffers who accused West created a "toxic and chaotic environment" for the people who worked under him. The collaboration between the rapper and the sportswear giant was terminated in October after nine years.
One staffer, who said they worked for Yeezy on West's ranch in Cody, Wyoming, told the publication that some moments in 2020 were "really uncomfortable."
West had Adidas move some of Yeezy's showroom to a remote ranch owned by the musician in Cody, Wyoming. He asked around 90 employees to commute from LA or Portland, per Rolling Stone.
While on the ranch, the staffer alleges that West would behave erratically and do things like scream, jump on tables, and throw books across a room.
"I feared for my well-being," the former staffer told Rolling Stone. "Like, what if he throws something at you?"
Adidas has launched an investigation into the workplace environment at Yeezy, following the claims made in an anonymous letter from staffers, a spokesperson told Insider.
The spokesperson said: "Adidas does not tolerate hate speech and offensive behavior and therefore has terminated the Adidas Yeezy partnership. We have been and continue to be actively engaged in conversations with our employees about the events that lead to our decision to end the partnership. They have our full support and as we're working through the details of the termination.
"It is currently not clear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true. However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations."
Representatives for Yeezy did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment on the incident.
