- Hard seltzer sales have exploded and led to growth in canned cocktails and other niche alcohol.
Coors Seltzer is releasing a new alcohol-infused ice cream based on the limited edition orange cream pop flavor.
The seltzer and the ice cream will both contain orange and vanilla flavors, along with 5% alcohol.
"Inspired by the nostalgic orange cream pop we typically see as a frozen treat, Coors Seltzer Orange Cream Pop Ice Cream by Tipsy Scoop is an upgraded summer treat for the ultimate refreshment," Matt Lafferty, marketing manager of Coors Seltzer at Molson Coors, said in a statement.
Hard seltzer sales have exploded over the last few years, and experts predict this Fourth of July weekend will be their biggest ever. Alcoholic seltzers are now a multi-billion dollar industry, with over $4.5 billion in sales over the 52 week period ending on May 22, according to NielsenIQ data shared with Insider. Their popularity has led alcohol brands, including Molson Coors, to produce their own variations, and changed the entire alcohol industry.
The same trends that first made hard seltzers popular are continuing to drive their growth, Nielsen analyst Danelle Kosmal told Insider. Hard seltzer consumers typically want "an experience through flavor or trying something new," she said.
Kosmal told Insider that customers can expect more variations on seltzers and cocktails beyond just canned drinks, for example, Natural Light's frozen popsicles. Other frozen alcoholic treats are the natural next step.
Coors Seltzer ice cream will be available at TipsyScoop.com and in Tipsy Scoop stores in New York City.
