Burger King announced Thursday it will sell Whoppers for just 37 cents to celebrate the signature burger's 64th birthday.

"In 1957, Burger King changed the game with the introduction of the Whopper sandwich," head of marketing communications Zahra Nurani said in a statement. Cofounder Jim McLamore introduced the menu item when he noticed that people liked to order large burgers, hence the Whopper. The chain now also sells the plant-based Impossible Whopper, launched in 2019.
Fast-food chains have promoted other deals and limited-time offers to entice customers to use their loyalty programs. They're important to chains' bottom lines as they incentivize return visits and give companies valuable customer data.
McDonald's just ran a similar promotion, selling Egg McMuffins for their original price of 63 cents on the item's 50th anniversary.
