Laura Crossen has been named as the interim replacement for former Bed Bath & Beyond Chief Financial Officer Gustavo Arnal.

Arnal was found dead last Friday after he fell from a New York City building. Arnal and activist investor Ryan Cohen had recently been hit with a lawsuit alleging that they worked together in a "pump and dump" fraud scheme.

In a recent Securities Exchange Commission filing, Bed Bath & Beyond named Crossen as its "Interim Chief Financial Officer." The filing said that she previously worked as the company's senior vice president of finance and chief accounting officer.

"As Interim Chief Financial Officer Ms. Crossen will be the Company's principal financial officer on an interim basis and will continue as the Company's principal accounting officer," the company's representatives wrote in the filing. Interim CEO Sue Gove signed the document.

Crossen will receive a base salary increase of $200,000, according to the filing. The executive's LinkedIn illustrates her long tenure in several prominent retail companies. Her profile lists her as having served as a vice president of financial management for the company since January 2001. Before she joined the Bed Bath & Beyond team, Crossen worked as the senior vice president of finance at dELIA's from 1998 and 2001. Prior to that, she was a national retail and consumer products group manager with Ernst & Young from 1991 and 1998.
