Amazon is opening its new grocery store in 2020.

Amazon has officially started hiring for its new grocery store.

On Monday, Amazon posted four new positions on its jobs site, confirming that it is recruiting for its new grocery store in Woodlands Hills, California, which is slated to open in 2020. The new positions include a store lead, grocery associate, food service associate, and an overnight grocery associate.

"Join us as we launch Amazon's first grocery store in Woodland Hills," the job descriptions read. "We are passionate about creating a shopping experience that customers will love. If you are customer-obsessed, like learning new things, and want to contribute to end-to-end store operations for a new business, this is the place for you!"

CNET was first to report the news.

The news that Amazon had plans to create a new grocery chain that was different from Whole Foods was first reported by The Wall Street Journal in March. Six months later, the Journal reported that Amazon had signed leases for more than 12 locations in the Los Angeles area.

Amazon has previously said that it wouldn't comment on speculation. This is the first time that it has confirmed reports on the new grocery chain.

In a statement to Business Insider on Monday, a spokesperson confirmed that this new location is different from its Whole Foods stores.

"The new store offers another grocery option that's distinct from Whole Foods Market, which continues to grow and remain the leader in quality natural and organic food," the spokesperson said in an email to Business Insider.

They would not confirm whether more stores would be opening beyond the Woodland Hills location.

The job descriptions indicate that this store will not operate in the same way as the Amazon Go stores, where customers can shop without having to interact with a cashier. One description says that associates will be handling cash, for example.

The hourly salary starts at $15.35 for an associate-level position. These employees are required to work up to 10 hours at a time "with or without reasonable accommodation," the ad said.
