"I have been hustling for a buck since I was a little kid," said Stewart, who earned most of his capital by working in his family's air conditioning and heating company. He said he started selling sneakers when he was 10 years old, after noticing a bunch of people waiting in line for a pair of hyped sneakers in a mall in Memphis, Tennessee.

Just about four years later, the teen says he's on track to making six figures in sales by the end of 2020.

Stewart primarily sells through online sneaker marketplace GOAT, where he is a top-rated seller. He started selling sneakers on that platform about two years ago and quickly rose in the ranks in just a few months.

"Becoming a top-rated seller on [GOAT] was a big deal for me at the time," Stewart told Business Insider. Being a top seller on GOAT comes with a few perks, like a drop in the seller fee from 20% to 9.5% and the ability to upload and list merchandise more seamlessly.

However, most charge hefty fees per sale, which can deter resellers from utilizing these platforms.

"I guess you're at the top of the food chain essentially," Stewart said regarding his status as a top seller on the site. He said he currently sells an average of two pairs a day on the platform.

Getting to where he is today wasn't easy at first. When asked how he rose in the GOAT ranks so quickly, Stewart said, "You have to spend money to make money."

Here's how the teen conquered GOAT in just a few months and minimized fees as much as possible to grow his business:
