New data reveals the top 10 fashion trends sweeping America right now

Men's joggers (aka tapered sweatpants) are hot—particularly skinny joggers.

Men

EDITED: "Dominating 41% of all jogger arrivals across both markets this Spring, skinny fits have seen a 73% rise in newness in the US. What's Next? Looking ahead to the upcoming Fall, arrivals for skinny fits should slow as the last two weeks have seen a much higher rate of newness compared to full price sellouts. Limiting arrivals for smart styles is a must. Success this Spring was owed to fewer arrivals."

Men's bomber jackets are hear to stay.

Men

EDITED: "The bomber jacket is proving its staying power with another successful season. Both US and UK regions saw a 9% replenishment rate and of those discounted only 18% saw a price cut of over 50%."

Women's leggings are continuing a historic rise in popularity.

Women

EDITED: "Undeniably the biggest lifestyle movements of recent years, the health and fitness industry has exploded. With sports luxe a given on the runway each season and activewear penetrating the ranges of high street stores, these pieces are becoming increasingly fashion and design focused.

"How Important are Leggings? In short — very. 49% of all bottoms currently in stock at our selected retailers are leggings, the rest is made up of shorts, joggers and looser-fit styles and the occasional skirt. Showing impressive year on year growth, the last three months arrivals show 11% more of the bottoms assortment dedicated to leggings than the same period in 2015."

Women's flare-cropped jeans are suddenly everywhere.

Women

EDITED: "The cropped flare has undoubtedly been the most 'fashion' fit of jean this season. Featuring on both the Spring and Fall runway, it is, however, a tricky shape and length combination to wear.

"With more than five times the options available in the US and UK this Spring/Summer vs. last, the cropped-length flare has been the fastest growing shape of the season. While last year saw the mass market with the most options, it is interesting to note that this year sees a vast 42% of the assortment at a luxury price point and 41% in premium.

"What's Next? With success across the board, it is to be expected that this isn't the last we see from the cropped flare. Another shape to take note of is high waisted. These jeans saw a decrease in investment year on year. However, consumers responded well here with the shape seeing the highest rate of replenishment of all styles, as well as low discounting. "

Women's embroidered denim is all over the runway and filling up stores too.

Women

EDITED: "The Spring 2016 runways saw the traditional workwear fabric hit a fancy note. With embroidery and embellishment shown by Alexander McQueen, House of Holland and Marc Jacobs, to name a few, retailers took note. A super-hot trend this season, options of embroidered denim went up 88% in the US.

"What's Next? Embroidered denim continued to feature on the Fall runway too — so this isn't just a passing Summer trend. New embellished styles include jackets from the likes of Alice & Olivia, skirts from Topshop and River Island and jeans from Page Denim and Valentino."

Slip dresses have blown up this year and are set to stay.

Slip dresses have blown up this year and are set to stay.

EDITED: "Slip dresses are of the most hyped dresses from the Spring 2016 runway, and a key part of the nightwear as daywear trend. In the US, Spring 2015 saw cami dresses as a clear luxury trend. Fast forward to 2016 and the mass market dominates with 42% of the assortment.

"What's Next? As retailers turn their attention to Fall, we see new arrivals of slip dresses slowing down. Consumers are on the same page, with 60% of US sell outs over the last two weeks having been discounted (published August 2016). However, it's not the end. As the weather continues to cool, the slip dress will resurface again for the party season where lacy trims and a silky finish will be key — and if the pre-collections are a prelude to the Spring shows, we expect a return to runways near you soon."

Exposed shoulders were a major trend for women this year. Now the style is evolving.

Exposed shoulders were a major trend for women this year. Now the style is evolving.

EDITED: "Exposed shoulders were undisputedly the style of season, working across both tops and dresses. Long sleeved jersey styles, and conversely, loose, chiffon-effect cami tops were popular with mass consumers. The luxury market, on the other hand, could afford to be more playful with detail, print and color. Bow-necked cold-shoulder tops and asymmetrical one-shoulder shapes worked well in high-end retail.

"What's Next? With exposed shoulders still a prominent shape on both the Fall 2016 runway and in the Pre-Spring 2017 collections, off-the-shoulder styles are still a safe bet for Spring 2017. Simple black and white colorways were popular in both styles and territories, while colorful and patterned styles were more likely to see discount. Instead, add interest through simple ruffle fronts and loosely frilled sleeves."

Wrap-around skirts have been trending for several years.

Wrap-around skirts have been trending for several years.

EDITED: "Wrap-around skirts have been strong on the runway for many seasons; year on year retailers have increased investment 20% in the US respectively.

"What's Next? With proven success already, asymmetric styles will grow in importance - and is a perfect detail to work into wrap skirts. These will work well in the upcoming colder months in leathers and wools, however we do expect newnesss to slow down until next Summer. The slit detail is continuing to prove popular in luxury and mass markets alike — a trend sure to have more legs for next Spring."

Bomber jackets for women are unbelievably hot.

Bomber jackets for women are unbelievably hot.

EDITED: "Bomber jackets have been the 'essential' outerwear piece so far this year. Both the US and UK have seen a huge investment here, with a 209% and 134% year on year growth respectively.

"What's Next? 19% of in-stock US bomber jackets arrived in the last two weeks (August 2016)—retailers are still investing. New arrivals include contrast sleeves and stripy trims, satin fabrics, military influences, khaki hues and embroidery. The luxury market sees heavier weights including leather, wool and fur for the new season. Bombers continued to be strong on the runway for Fall."
