REPORTS: A Grand Jury Just Declined To Indict In Another Major Police Death Case

Dec 4, 2014, 01:05 IST

A grand jury announced its decision to not indict the white NYPD officer who held Eric Garner in an apparent chokehold before his death last July, according to The New York Times and NY1.

Video tape showed the unarmed Garner repeatedly yelling that he couldn't breathe during an arrest for allegedly selling illegal cigarettes.

The decision is another major blow to activists who had called for the indictment of both the NYPD officer, Daniel Pantaleo, and Darren Wilson, the officer who killed 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

This post will be updated with additional information shortly.
