CEO Elon Musk is now threatening to fire overseas executives over the news, according to the report.
"Musk may fire overseas execs after dismal China sales," Reuters auto reporter Bernie Woodall tweeted, adding that Reuters cites an internal email.
Musk recently addressed questions about Tesla's business in China, explaining that the company had some difficulty getting customer to understand how Tesla cars worked with the country's electric-charging network.
