The current owners — the Maloof family — have deals on the table from one Seattle-based group and one Sacramento-based group.
The full NBA Board of Governors will vote later this month, but they are expected to follow the recommendation of the committee and deny the move to Seattle.
In short, nothing's official, but Sacramento just won a major battle in the war to keep the Kings.
A few months ago everyone expected the Kings to be sold and moved to Seattle for $550 million. But Sacramento major and former NBA player Kevin Johnson agreed to a deal to build a new stadium, and recruited a local ownership group to swoop in and match Seattle's offer.
