REPORT: Dwight Howard To Sign With The Houston Rockets

ESPN has confirmed the report.

Earlier today it was reported that Howard would announce his official decision via Twitter.

Howard was believed to have narrowed his choices down to five teams: the Lakers, Rockets, Warriors, Mavericks, and Hawks.

Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets says the team has not been informed of Howard's decision. However, it appears that all other teams have been informed that Howard will not sign with them.

Earlier today Mark Cuban confirmed to ESPN.com that the Mavericks were told they were no longer in the running to sign Howard.

The Lakers were also informed that Howard would sign elsewhere according to ESPN.

By signing with a team other than the Lakers, Howard is giving up more than $30 million in guaranteed money on his contract. With the Lakers he could have signed a 5-year, $116.9 million deal. With other teams, he is limited to signing a 4-year, $86.8 million contract.
