Relax and breathe! Google increases privacy controls for
internet users

With the rising cases of invasion of privacy, internet users can heave a sigh of relief. Internet giant Google has now increased privacy controls for users and also launched a website on Monday that will answer all commonly asked questions (FAQs) pertaining to the growing concern for the mechanism used to collect its massive amounts of data.

According to an ET report, for users managing their privacy settings has been a cumbersome process as the settings are in various browsers across the web. Google has allowed its users to manage their privacy settings, which also includes their browsing history.

The report suggested that Google has now enabled its users use My Account, which provides privacy and security checkup along with the list wherein people can manage which of their data can be viewed publicly.

"We knew that users find privacy and security really mysterious so we wanted to make it very approachable," said Guemmy Kim, product manager for account controls and settings in the report.

It should be noted that data control has been increasingly crucial as there have been cases of impersonation and online frauds. Interestingly, in 2013, Edward Snowden exposed the US National Security Agency for collecting phone records and for putting internet giants such as Google, Facebook and Apple under increasing scrutiny in a bid to collect massive data.
